WhatsApp is a safe way to communicate with others, but your account could be compromised without your knowing. Hackers typically persuade you into allowing them access to your WhatsApp accounts through social engineering techniques. However, there are steps you may do to prevent this.

Be sure to always download the most recent version of WhatsApp from the official  Google Play or App Store.
WhatsApp’s unsupported versions pose a security risk. These apps have security flaws that allow hackers to access your account with only a little carelessness.

Don’t forget to log out of WhatsApp Web

At work, we frequently log in to WhatsApp Web and leave the account open on the computer. This behaviour may end up causing you issues. Without your knowledge, someone else using the same computer as you can view all of your communications. Leaving WhatsApp Web logged out before leaving the office is a good idea. Relogging takes only a few seconds. You only need to scan the code to finish.

Use Two step verification

Your WhatsApp account is now more secure thanks to this functionality. Open WhatsApp, select Settings, click on Account, Two-step verification, and turn on two-step verification. You must enter your accurate email address on WhatsApp as well.

Don’t click on any suspicious link

Do your WhatsApp contacts frequently send you messages with arbitrary links? So you shouldn’t ever click on links that seem suspicious. In fact, it’s a good idea to first ask your contact what the supplied link is for before clicking on it. According to some sources, WhatsApp is developing a “suspect link” function that would allow users to quickly determine whether a link is legitimate or not.

Deactivate WhatsApp when phone is stolen, lost

Phone theft is a pretty frequent occurrence. In this situation, you must be sure to deactivate your WhatsApp account so that no one else can hack it and view all of your personal information. Go to Settings, select “Delete my account,” enter your phone number, and then click “Delete my account” to delete your WhatsApp account.
