About Vodafone Ghana Scholarship

The Vodafone Ghana Foundation Scholarship Scheme aimed to increase the participation of women in science and technology in Ghana. The project provided technical and financial assistance to young girls in secondary school by reviewing science and math curricula, teacher training, developing teaching manuals, and motivating students and teachers through awards and community engagement.

100 girls with high academic grades but limited financial/economic resources will study Math, Science, and Technology courses in Ghanaian Senior High Schools, and 10 females will study at the University of Education Winneba. The scheme aimed to recognize and reward academic excellence while also providing financial and technical assistance to female students.

All Ghanaian students enrolled in accredited public tertiary institutions are eligible for the Vodafone Ghana Foundation Scholarship.

Vodafone announced on 3 July 2008 that it had agreed to purchase 70% of Ghana Telecom from the Ghanaian government for US$900 million, for a total enterprise value of approximately US$1.3 billion.
