Buying Electricity credit is now easy with the newly launched app ‘ECG Power App’.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia Vice President of Ghana, on Tuesday, 18 February 2020 launched a mobile application called ECG Power that allows customers to buy electricity at their their own comfort from the Electricity Company of Ghana and this shows how far Ghana has advanced in the use of technological tools for solving our everyday problems.

The app allows ECG customers to make payments for power purchased and services rendered by the company through their mobile phone.
At the launch, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia quoted “With this new application, customers can now buy electricity credit from the comfort of their homes, anytime and anywhere. What is more, you can now buy credit for distressed family members and for acquaintances.’’
How to use the ECG Power app on your Smartphone (ECG Mobile App)
- Smartphone users can download the app from the Google Play store or Apple App Store
- Create an account
- Add the meter number
- Top up or pay bills from their mobile money wallets.
Non Smartphone Users
Customers who use phones that are not smarts (like Symbian phones) can dial *226# and follow the prompts to enjoy the same service.
Improvement from The ECG Power App
With the newly launched mobile app by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), there are a lot a customer can do after downloading the mobile app unto their smartphones as there are versions available for both Android and iOS.
A customer of ECG can make some transactions with ECG Power App such as;
- Buy Prepaid Credit
- Check their meter balance
- Check meter balance usage (how much credit being used with a specific period)
- Pay Bills
Prepaid Meters supported By The ECG Mobile App:
- Alpha
- CLOU
- Holley
- MBH
- Nuri (Kamstrup)
With postpaid meters, the ECG Power App supports all types and ECG plans to roll out other prepaid meters across Ghana soon.
