Why Android Sucks Data Bundle

By | October 6, 2024

Android devices are widely used smartphones in the world, especially in Africa. If you’re an Android user, at times you wonder why your device sucks a lot of data. In many cases, we blame our internet service providers for stealing our data. At times it’s true because some internet service providers charge higher than others and others have amazing promotions and offers than others. In this post, we will look at how Android sucks data bundles.

1. Auto Updates

Auto-update is when applications on your device are updated to the latest version automatically. This is very good for security reasons because some updates are for security patches and improvement of apps. It is a good idea to update your applications but the sizes of some applications are too huge and can suck a lot of data.

The best way is to change your auto-update settings to auto-update only when connected to WiFi and you can also manually update your apps.

2. Social Media

Almost all social media platforms these days have a lot of multimedia features to entertain you and get you addicted. For instance, social media applications like Facebook have many features that insanely suck your data bundle. Some of these features include; Facebook Watch, Facebook Gaming, Instagram Reels, TikTok and many more.

3. Videos and High-Resolution Images

If you are someone who likes watching videos on YouTube, Vimeo or any other video streaming apps, then the chances of you complaining about android suck data bundles is very high. You need to always make sure that, whenever you watch a video or an image online, it somehow downloads the video before which will cost you a data bundle. It is advisable to download and watch your videos later if possible.

4. Not Enabling Save Data Mode

Most Android phones have save data mode which prevents other devices from using your internet data in the background. If you have this option, then enabling it will reduce the rate at which your phone uses your data bundle.

Conclusion

We always think that our data providers steal our data bundle but this is not always the case. The best thing to do in order to solve this issue, you need to check apps that suck data from your phone to delete or manage how to use it.

You can also set a data limit on your data manager app. The data manager app allows you to manage how you use your data, you can set a limit to your data usage, this will turn off your data after reaching the limit set.
