Using the appropriate font can help make your Powerpoint presentation more interesting and aesthetically pleasing. The fonts you intend to use before building your presentation may need to be downloaded and installed because not all fonts are accessible on all devices.

Here’s how to get fonts for your PowerPoint templates and install them.

How To Download Fonts For PowerPoint Templates

Adding fonts for your PowerPoint templates may be as simple as downloading them. To find, install, and utilise the fonts you want, simply follow these instructions.

Step 1: Find the font you want to use

Finding the font you wish to use for your presentation is the first step. There are numerous websites that provide both free and premium typefaces for use in both personal and professional projects. Google Fonts, Adobe Fonts, Font Squirrel, and DaFont are a few well-known websites.

Download the font to your PC once you’ve chosen one you like. You must extract the font files from the font file, which is often in.zip format, in order to access them.

Step 2: Extract the font files

Before you may install font files on your computer, you have to extract compressed font files. Use a compression programme like WinZip or 7-Zip to extract the files by choosing Extract All from the context menu when you right-click on the compressed file.

Step 3:  Install the font on your computer

You must install the font file on your computer after downloading it. Depending on your operating system, there are many ways to install fonts.

Windows users should:

  • Search for the Control Panel in the Start menu to access it.
  • Go to the Control Panel and select Appearance and Personalization.
  • Select Fonts.
  • Select File from the Fonts window, and then select Install New Font.
  • Select the font file by navigating to its saved directory and clicking Install.

Users of Macs should:

  • To open the downloaded font file, double-click on it.
  • The Install Font button is located at the bottom of the preview window.
  • Now that the font has been installed, PowerPoint should support it.

Step 4: Utilise the PowerPoint font

Once the font has been installed on your computer, you can use PowerPoint to use it. This is how:

  • Create a new presentation in PowerPoint or edit an existing one.
  • In the ribbon at the top of the screen, select the Home tab.
  • Click the drop-down menu next to Font in the Font section of the ribbon.
  • Find the font you want to use by scrolling through the font list. The font should show up in the list if you properly installed.
  • Start typing in your text box after clicking the font to select it. The chosen font will now be used to display the text.

Step 5: Insert the Font in Your PowerPoint File

Check that the people who will see your PowerPoint file have access to the font you used if you intend to share it with them. To accomplish this, you can embed the typeface in your PowerPoint presentation. This is how:

  • In the ribbon at the top of the screen, select the File tab.
  • Select Options from the menu on the left.
  • Using the left-hand menu in the PowerPoint Options dialogue box, select Save.
  • Put a tick in the box to Embed fonts in the file.
  • Choose Embed all characters under Embed fonts in the file.
  • To save your changes, click OK.

It’s a bright idea to keep the fonts with your PowerPoint template if you plan to use them in multiple presentations. To do this, open PowerPoint and select Slide Size from the Design tab. Click Save As Template after selecting Custom Slide Size. Make sure to tick the Embed Fonts in the File option when saving the template, and give it a name that stands out. By doing so, you can be sure that the typefaces are preserved alongside the template and are accessible from any computer.

Now, even if the recipient doesn’t have the font installed, the font will display appropriately on other machines when you share your PowerPoint file with them.
