How To Change Background Image and Color In PowerPoint

Customising your PowerPoint presentation and improving its visual appeal is as simple as changing the backdrop colour and image. You can alter the backdrop picture and colour of a single slide or every slide in your presentation by following the instructions provided in this article.

Step 1: Open PowerPoint and Select the Slide

Open Microsoft PowerPoint and choose the slide you wish to edit to get started. To access the choices for changing the backdrop, select the Design item from the top menu bar.

Step 2: Change the Background Image

Click on the Background Styles dropdown menu, which is found in the Background set of options on the Design tab, to alter the background image of your presentation. You can select from a range of pre-made backdrop styles in the dropdown menu.

To use a custom image as the background picture, select Format Background from the dropdown menu at the bottom. The Format Background pane will then appear on the right side of the screen.

Choose Picture or Texture Fill under the Fill options in the Format Background box. To find an image on your computer that you wish to use as the background, click the File option. After choosing a picture, click Insert to make it the background.

Step 3: Change the background colour

Follow the same procedures as for altering the background picture, but choose “Solid Fill” from the Format Background pane rather than Picture or Texture Fill to change the background colour.

To select a colour from the pre-set selections, click the Colour button. You may also click More Colours to create a custom colour. The background can also be filled with a gradient or pattern.

Step 4: Apply the Changes to All Slides

Go to the Design tab and select Slide Size under the Customise section of the menu options if you want the backdrop changes to be applied to every slide in your presentation. To apply the modifications to every slide in your presentation, select Custom Slide Size and then Apply to All Slides.

Step 5: Save the Presentation

Make sure to save the presentation after customising the background. To save the file, select File > Save” or “File > Save AsĀ and then the destination. Name the presentation something that accurately describes its content.

Guidelines for Modifying PowerPoint’s Background Pictures and Colours:

  • Make sure the background picture or colour you select isn’t overly distracting and doesn’t alter the presentation’s content.
  • Pick a colour palette that goes well with the presentation’s overarching theme.
  • For the background, use high-quality photos to prevent pixelation or blurriness.
  • As a background option, think about employing a transparent image or pattern to offer visual interest without being overly distracting.
  • Make sure the background image is copyright-free or appropriately licenced if you’re utilising a bespoke image.
