The gaming industry has been one of the most profitable industries for a very long time. With mobile gaming being the best market in the industry right now, the top giants are expanding their domains.
Some people believe they are acquiring the rising game companies to kill competition. But there are others who think this is another strategy to make sure they remain the giants by taking over the mobile industry too.

Take-Two Buys Zynga
Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. earlier spent $12.7 billion to acquire Zynga. The deal was one of the biggest deals in the gaming industry or so everybody thought.
If you have ever played Grand Theft Auto, then you should know Take-Two Interactive. They have been one of the largest game developers in the industry. Since mobile gaming is the moving industry currently, most of the big companies are purchasing more mobile developer studios. Take-Two Interactive closed one of the biggest deals to prove that.
Microsoft Takes Activision Blizzard
Right after Take-Two Interactive acquired Zynga, Microsoft also made the intention to acquire Activision Blizzard known. Microsoft bids $69 billion to acquire Activision Blizzard. This will be one of the biggest deals in the gaming industry should it be successful.
The entire deal has been delayed due to issues raised by some institutions in the UK. According to The Competition and Market Authority (CMA), the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft could harm UK gamers.
Sony takes Bungie
Sony is not left out of the acquisition of developer studios trend. Sony officially closed a deal to acquire Bungie for a Whooping $3.6 billion.
If you have been following games for a while, then you should know that Sony Interactive Entertainment is one of the big players in the industry. Of course, we have been enjoying the Play Station series from the way back.
Recently Sony started purchasing some mobile developer studios and one of the purchases was Bungie. Bungie is officially a part of Sony as of the time of this article.
