How to Become a Bolt Driver in Ghana

Do you wish to become a Bolt driver today? Do you have a car? Did you know that you can make real money from partnering with Bolt Ghana? Well, in this article, I will show you how to successfully become a part of the Bolt family, and make money as a Bolt driver.

Before you get to the registration process as a driver on the Bolt Ghana platform, you must meet the following driving requirements:

  • Be at least 25 years old
  • Have an Android smartphone or iPhone with GPS.
  • Have a vehicle that meets the accepted criteria. (Learn more)
  • Have a valid Ghana driver’s license

Bolt Vehicle Requirements in Ghana

To be eligible for the Bolt platform, your vehicle must meet the following requirements in Ghana:

  • Be manufactured in 2006 or later
  • Have air conditioning
  • Be a private vehicle or taxi
  • Have a Third Party/Comprehensive Insurance
  • Have a Roadworthiness Certificate.
  • Have a vehicle with an engine capacity of 1.5L and above
  • Pass a vehicle inspection
  • Maintain an average rating of 4.6 and above
  • Attend training.

Please note that Government or rebuilt vehicles are not eligible. Taxis are only accepted in Cape Coast and Kumasi.

Driver Document Requirements in Ghana

Bolt drivers in Ghana must provide the documents listed below to be considered for driving on the platform:

  • Valid driving license
  • Vehicle insurance certificate or sticker
  • Roadworthiness Certificate sticker
  • Clear and front-facing profile picture.

Note: It is not required but is highly recommended to provide a Clearance Certificate too.

How to Become a Bolt Driver

Below are the steps on how to register to become a driver on the Bolt platform:

  • Enter an active Email Address and Phone number in their respective fields.
  • Select a City from the drop-down list and click on the “Next” button to proceed.
How to Make Money with Bolt
  • Fill in your personal details
  • Fill in your National ID (Driving License Number) and License Number (Reference number of the License)
  • Upload all the required documents and their expiry dates
  • Fill in your payment details, i.e., mobile money wallet where you want to receive payments:
    • Select Person as your Billing Type
    • Your name as the Mobile Money Wallet Name
    • Your MoMo number starting with 233 as your Mobile Wallet Number
    • Your network provider is Mobile Money Network.

Wait until the Bolt team process and approve your application. If the application is missing any documents/details, the team will contact you.

Bolt Training Process

Training is the next step in becoming a Bolt driver. Once you have completed your registration. the Bolt team will send you an SMS with a link to take the training. If you want to drive in Accra, you may also register and complete training in one of the following Approved Driver Activation Centres:

  • PureRelations
    • Ashalebotwe School Junction
    • Open every day for 24 hours
  • Legacy Internet Cafe – Madina
    • Madina Rawlings Circle
    • Open every day for 24 hours
  • Legacy Internet Cafe – Circle
    • Adabraka 1st Traffic Light, Adjacent to Mr. Biggs
    • Open every day for 24 hours
  • Ardor Consult
    • Dome Vulcanizer
    • Open from Monday to Saturday: 8 am to 5 pm

Note: The registration fee at these centers is GHS10.

Account Activation on Bolt Platform

Finally, once you have successfully completed the training, your application will be processed as soon as possible. You will receive an SMS with a link to create a password to log in to your account.

You have a period of 48 hours thereafter to complete your first trip to activate your profile. Congrats!
