  • No Bank Account Required!

    Yes, you do not need an account with United Bank for Africa (UBA) before you can apply for a UBA Africard.

    There are a lot of people thinking that they need to open an account with UBA to apply for the Africard. No! UBA Africard is a Prepaid Card and not connected to any bank account. However, you’ll need to present a valid Government-issued ID card, a utility bill, Tax Identification Number (TIN) and a passport-sized photograph to be granted the card.

  • The UBA Card is a Prepaid VISA Card.

    The Africard platform is a virtual e-wallet issued by banks for online purchases and offline activities and connected to a plastic VISA Card for offline POS, ATM and of course Web transactions. It’s a separate entity from your bank account and can be funded only through the bank hall or transfer from your UBA account if you have one.

  • Funding Of Card is between 8 am to 4 pm.

    It’s good to know that you can only fund the UBA Africard in the banking hall between 8 am and 4 pm. So if you’re in a queue in the banking hall and time is against you, it will be best you walk to the tellers and let them know that you want to fund your Africard. That’s the time range I used to fund my UBA Africard at the UBA Branch found at Lapaz.

    VISA is an international web power for online transactions, and it lives up to its reputation. Africard is Visa Verified / Verified by Visa. You can enable this option on the user portal when logged in, and this adds an extra level of security to the card transactions.

  • Can Be Used For Withdrawals At Any ATM for Free.

    Yes, unlike other ATM Cards the UBA Africard Card has a Zero charge on ATM withdraws. Though I can’t tell why this is free, but I do enjoy it as much as you will. Who doesn’t like free things?

    This is very important to note; the UBA Africard is accepted on a lot of websites even where a standard credit/debit card fails. I’ve used it to successfully make a payment on sites like Amazon, eBay, Fiverr, upwork, PayPal account since it has helped a lot of internet marketers in getting – verified PayPal account in Ghana.

    Yes, the UBA is best for making any kind of purchase transactions related to cedis or dollar equivalent. While you can fund the Africard with cedis in Ghana here, you can use it for any kind of transaction online that is both in cedis and dollars.

    Interestingly, your card comes with an online portal where you can check balance, print statement, transfer funds to other cards/UBA accounts, revise/rectify transactions, block card, change pin, etc
