In today’s ICT News, it has been confirmed that — Twitter is coming to Ghana for its first Africa presence.
The American microblogging and social networking service, Twitter made the plans to establish its first presence in Ghana — as establishment in Africa.
With its headquarters in San Francisco, California, United States, Twitter says Ghana has been chosen among its peers due to the country’s support for free speech, champion for democracy, online freedom and the Open Internet of which it is also an advocate.
According to Twitter, the decision to kick off its African expansion with Ghana stems from the country’s dealings with AfCFTA and its openness toward the internet.
It added that Ghana’s recent appointment to host The Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area aligns with its overarching goal to establish a presence in the region that will support its efforts to improve and tailor its service across Africa.
“We are looking for specialists to join several teams including product, design, engineering, marketing and communications. Aligned with our existing WFH policies, we look forward to welcoming and onboarding our new team members remotely so that we can make an immediate impact while we explore the opportunity to open an office in Ghana in the future,” the social network company has stated on its website.
The company has noted that its mission is to serve the public conversation, and it’s essential, for the world and for Twitter, to increase the number of people who feel comfortable participating in it. “To do this, we need to make it easier for everyone to join in and provide more relevant experiences for people across the world.”
