How to Transfer Airtime on MTN

MTN is widely regarded as the largest telecommunications service in Nigeria, as well as Africa as a whole. It has hundreds of millions of subscribers surpassing the subscribers of its counterparts Glo, Airtel Nigeria, and 9Mobile. 

Because of the excellent services they provide in terms of telecommunications and internet, they have done well in providing uniquely excellent offers for their millions of subscribers, particularly in Nigeria. One of the features or offers of using MTN in Nigeria is the ability to transfer airtime from one MTN user to another. This feature is called MTN Share ‘N’ Sell. 

MTN Share ‘N’ sell is a service that allows  MTN subscribers transfer airtime from their MTN main airtime account to the account of other MTN subscribers who do not want to borrow airtime from MTN.

Using this service, you are willing to share part of your airtime or to sell part of your airtime. 

MTN has provided a feature on this service (MTN Share ‘N’ Sell) that enables your airtime to be secured in the cause of sharing or selling from it. That feature enables you to set a pin code for transfer. 

How to Set Up/ Change PIN on MTN Share ‘N’ Sell

The default PIN code for using the MTN Share ‘N’ Sell service is 1234. It is required that fir you to use this service, you must set a unique four-digit pin using the default PIN. To create a new PIN do the following.

  • Send on SMS: Default PIN + New PIN + New PIN to 777

For example, I want my pin to be 3456, then I send on SMS: 1234 3456 3456 to 777.

Sharing Airtime Using *777# and *600# on MTN Share ‘N’ Sell

Now that you’ve set up your PIN, you can now begin to share or sell airtime to friends and customers by dialing *777# or *600#, and then follow the process. It’s quite simple.

Bottom Line

If you would use the MTN Share ‘N’ Sell service, you are permitted to transfer a maximum of 5,000 Naira worth of airtime per transaction and a minimum of 50 Naira per transaction. Also, MTN Share ‘N’ Sell lets you transfer a total of 10,000 Naira worth of airtime per day.
