To perform an HP Pavilion gaming laptop RAM upgrade, the first thing you must have is the RAM you want to use for the upgrade. You will also need a screwdriver since you will have to open the back cover of the laptop.

HP Pavilion has a full back cover so you will have to open the entire cover to get access to the RAM. Power off your laptop and make sure you unscrew all the screws and carefully open the cover.
After opening the laptop completely, the first thing you should do is gently remove the battery connector.
After disconnecting the battery, carefully look at the motherboard. If you still have the stick on Covering your RAM, carefully peel it to reveal the RAM.
If you have access to the RAM, carefully spread the lock pins on either side of the RAM at the same time to remove it. Make sure you remove both.
Now get your new RAM and carefully insert them into the same positions as the ones you removed.
After inserting the RAM, make sure you put the sticker back on. Also do not forget to insert the battery connector back into its original position.
Put the main cover back on and screw. Turn on your laptop when you are done.
