How To Enable DLSS And How To Use It

By | January 7, 2023

I’m sure you have heard about DLSS but do you know how to enable DLSS or how to use it? In this new tutorial, we will take a quick look at the use of the DLSS and how to enable it.

DLSS is is an AI technology used by NVidia to help force high-resolution games to render at a lower resolution. The technology is strict with the latest Nvidia GPUs.

What is DLSS?

DLSS stands for Deep Learning Super Sampling. This is an image and resolution enhancement technology that help upscale the graphics in high-resolution games so they can run smoothly at a lower resolution.

The DLSS uses an AI learning algorithm to run a higher-resolution image at a lower resolution and infer a higher-resolution image with almost the same level of details if the image is rendered in a higher resolution. The major goal of this technology is to increase graphic performance at no extra resolution cost.

How to use DLSS

Most people believe that the Deep Learning Super Sample (DLSS) is meant to be used for resolution games at cheaper or no cost at all. It might sound funny but that is exactly what it is.

To be able to use DLSS, you must be using an Nvidia Graphic card. It must also be any of the Nvidia Geforce RTX series because these are the only supported graphics.

You must also have your Windows updated, your graphic drivers must be up to date and you must be running supported games or applications.

  • Amid Evil
  • No Man’s Sky
  • Ghostrunner
  • Minecraft: Bedrock Edition
  • Call of Duty: Warzone
  • Crysis Remastered

There is a full list of games and apps supported by DLSS on the Nvidia website.

How to enable DLSS

The DLSS settings are not in the driver or display settings. They are in the supported games or application settings.

To enable this feature, you have to make sure your graphics are up to date. You must also make sure the game or application you want to use supports DLSS.

If you are using this in a game, simply navigate to the game’s graphic settings. Enable DLSS and start playing your game.

You can also adjust the resolution to play at a suitable resolution.

How to enable DLSS FAQs

Can I enable DLSS on my gaming console?

Earlier, I wrote about some high-resolution gaming consoles including the Xbox One series. I know you will be wondering if any of these consoles support DLSS. Well, the DLSS technology is strict to Nvidia graphics and most of these consoles do not use Nvidia graphics.

Does DLSS look better than native?

DLSS look better than native because rendering in native requires all the graphics power. This means your frame rates won’t get that higher. The DLSS is designed to render a lower resolution and make it look like a higher resolution. It means you will run your games at a higher resolution and higher frame rates at the same time.
