Facebook’s New Video Conferencing Product, Messenger Rooms Now Available

Facebook’s new product, Messenger Rooms, is now available to everyone and can be accessed on both mobile and desktop.

The new video chat product comes with rich features and it is an upgrade of the existing Facebook Messenger’s video calling function. It allows a maximum of 50 people to chat on video with unlimited time through the Facebook app.

According to Facebook, one can control who to join or one can open it to the public for anyone to join with the link even if they do not have a Facebook account.

Facebook’s vice president of Messenger, Stan Chudnovsky in a blog post today says “You can start and share rooms on Facebook through Newsfeed, Groups, and events, so it’s easy for you to drop by whenever you want”.

He further said “You can choose who can see and join your room or remove people from your room and lock the room if you do not want anyone to join”.

Messenger can still be used to perform one-on-one calls and video chats or group calls and group video chats just as it was being done previously. But now with the new feature, if you tap over to the “People” section of Messenger, you will have the option to create a room.
