The University of Ghana aka LEGON, the oldest and largest of the six public universities in Ghana, began in 1948 as an affiliate College of the University of London and in 1961, was granted degree-awarding status by an Act of Parliament.
Being the premier University in Ghana, it is often ranked as one of the best universities you can find in the country. They have produced notable alumni who can be found in all facets of our workforce.
University of Ghana offers a wide range of programs of which Bsc Information Technology happens to be one of the courses.
Information Technology and Computer science go hand in hand and they complement each other. Information technology is the use of computers to create, process, store, retrieve, and exchange all kinds of data and information.
The Department offers two undergraduate degree programmes, Bachelor of Science in
Computer Science Single-Major (3:2:1:1) and Major-Minor (3:2:2:1) as well as Bachelor of
Science in Iinformation Technology.
As a requirement in the Department, every student in the Department of Computer Science must own his or her own laptop to facilitate learning.
Entry requirements for Bachelor of Science in Information Technology
Core: Credit passes in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science & Social Studies
Electives: Credit passes in any three subjects, with at least a B2 in Core Mathematics.
Study Duration For Legon Bsc Information Technology Course
The study duration for all the first ICT programs in Legon is four years for WASSCE graduates. Thus, Wassce graduates will read the program for four years.
However, applicants who already have an HND certificate will study the program for only two or three years, depending on their class and the HND program.
