When this occurs, the first thing to consider is not your network’s internet speed, but rather how to configure your smartphone’s internet connection before considering internet speed.

MTN Internet Settings in Ghana
We’d like to walk you through setting up your MTN internet on your smartphone in this article, so if you have any questions, they’ll be answered.
Do the following to configure your MTN internet on your smartphone:
Android phones
- Locate and select Settings from your phone’s menu.
- Choose “Network & Internet.”
- Then choose “Mobile Network.”
- To add an access point, you must first select “Access Point Names.”
- Click the “plus” sign in the top right corner to add a new MTN internet settings APN and enter the following; APN: Access Point Name (MTN or MTN Ghana)
- To save settings, select “Save” from the drop-down menu in the top right corner.
iPhones
- Navigate to and select Settings.
- Choose mobile data.
- Choose a mobile data network.
- Set the APN to ‘Internet’.

MTN has 17,790,000 subscribers in Ghana. MTN Ghana held its initial public offering (IPO) in 2018. All qualified applicants were offered up to 4,637,394,533 ordinary shares in MTN Ghana on July 31, 2019, representing 35% of the company’s equity.
In November 2015, MTN Ghana and Ghana’s National Communications Authority (NCA) signed an agreement for MTN Ghana to deploy 4G LTE mobile services to its Ghanaian customers. MTN mobile money was included as a payment method for the MTN share offer subscription, along with other payment methods.
