Airtel Me2U: How to Transfer Airtime on Airtel in Nigeria

In this article, you’ll be informed and instructed on how to transfer airtime on Airtel using the the Airtel Me2U service. 

Telecom industries: MTN, Airtel, Glo, and 9Mobile have similar service that enables their subscribers to transfer airtime from subscriber to another. For instance, MTN has a transfer airtime service known as MTN Share ‘N’ Sell. 

Airtel, MTN, and other networks in Nigeria such as GLO and 9Mobile has provided services like this so that love can be shared among their subscribers in terms of airtime— excess airtime, or business can be made through the same reason.

Situations unavoidable may occur when you mistakenly purchase the amount of airtime you intended not to. Or you just happen to have more than enough airtime and you’re willing to transfer your airtime to other subscribers of your network for the purpose of sharing (giving out) or making money. Airtel Me2U service was purposely designed for subscribers to transfer airtime on Airtel. 

Requirements for using Airtel Me2U Service to Transfer Airtime

As you must have known that the service for transferring Airtime in Airtel is called Airtel Me2U, it has basic requirements for subscribers who are eligible to use this service. They are listed below:

  • A registered and activated Airtel SIM on your phone
  • The amount of airtime you wish to transfer
  • A secret transfer PIN, as well as
  • The receiver’s phone number (Airtel user).

These are the basic things you’ll need to use the Airtel Me2U service.

Using the Airtel Me2U Service Code *432# to Transfer Airtime.

To start transferring airtime using the Airtel Me2U service, you need to know the code USSD code, which is *432#. This code enables Airtel subscribers to share airtime with friends and family. 

All Airtel prepaid customers, no matter what tariff plan he/she is operating is eligible to use this service. Also the Airtel Me2U code *432# is is a free to use code, and there are no limitations as regards to airtime transfers in a day, a week, or a month. It is only valid for Airtel to Airtel subscribers. 

How to Change Airtel Me2U 1234 Default PIN (SMS Method).

The default transfer PIN code is 1234. However, this PIN is invalid and would not make your airtime transfer successful. So, in order to have a successful airtime transfer, you’ll need to change the default 1234 PIN to another four-digit PIN you’re familiar with. This is usually for security purposes.

The PIN changing feature on this service is also similar to the on the MTN Share ‘N’ Sell service. You can read about it here in my previous article on MTN airtime transfer.

Moving on, to change your PIN from the default 1234 on Airtel Me2U, do the following:

  • Go to your SMS box
  • Open a new message box and type: “PIN 1234 NEW PIN” then send to 432.
  • For instance, if you want your pin to be 4567, you put in this format through SMS: “PIN 1234 4567” and then send to 432.

How to Change Airtel Me2U 1234 Default PIN With SIM Toolkit.

Apart from the SMS Method, you can also change the default PIN from your Airtel SIM Toolkit on your phone. To do so, follow the procedure below:

  • Open the SIM Toolkit app on your phone
  • Click on Airtel NG
  • Click on airtel
  • Select My Airtel Account
  • Select Me2U
  • Tap on Change PIN
  • Enter Default PIN 1234
  • Enter your new PIN and tap OK
  • You’ll receive a message from 432 after a while.

How to Transfer Airtime on Airtel: Me2U Code Method

Now, this is the main article proper. To transfer airtime using the Airtel Me2U service code isn’t rocket science. However, there are three different ways of transferring airtime to friends and family including the Me2U service code. Follow the procedure below:

  • Dial *432# (It displays “Welcome to Airtel Me2U)
  • Choose option 1
  • Enter the number you wish to transfer airtime to
  • Enter the amount you wish to transfer
  • Enter your PIN
  • Your request is processing.

How to Airtime on Airtel SIM Toolkit app.

This ia arguably the easiest method. To use this method, do the following:

  • Select the SIM Toolkit app from your phone
  • Select Airtel NG
  • Select airtel
  • Select My Airtel Account
  • Select Me2U
  • Select Airtime
  • Follow the rest of the instructions.

How to transfer Airtime using SMS.

This another quick method of transferring airtime. This method is also free. To use this method, follow the procedure below:

  • Open your SMS app
  • Open new message box and type:  2u [Phone Number] [Amount] [PIN] to 432. That is it.

For example: You want to transfer N200 to Airtel number (080XXXXXXXX) and your transfer PIN is 4567. This is how you send the message: 2u 080XXXXXXXX 100 4567 to 432. Within a few seconds, you and the recipient will get a successful confirmation message.
