About William Jessup University
William Jessup University is a private Christian university with a second location in San Jose, California. William Lee Jessup established the university in San Jose in 1939 as San Jose Bible College.
The institution changed its name to San Jose Christian College in 1989, and in 2002 WASC granted it regional accreditation. In April 2003, administrators made the decision to relocate the institution to Rocklin in the Sacramento metropolitan area after failing to find a new home in the Santa Clara Valley. In June 2004, the college formally left its San Jose campus. The institution now goes by the name William Jessup University. A satellite campus that primarily caters to graduate and non-traditional students has been kept in San Jose.
With the intention of preserving it as an ecological and recreational preserve, the university and Placer County announced plans for the university to purchase a 487-acre parcel of land known as the Clover Valley in 2022.
