If you are a gamer or yet to be, I know you have heard about Origin a few times. Hearing about it also leads to the curiosity to know what it is and what exactly it does. You won’t have to wait any longer to know what Origin is and what it is used for. I explain everything that you need to know about this software right here for you.
What is Origin and What is it used for?
Origin is a gaming platform developed and released by EA (Electronic Arts) Games. The platform started operating on June 3 2011 and has been fully functional to date.
The major purpose of this platform is to help developers to distribute games and help gamers to also find the games they like and purchase them. Over the years, the platform has evolved into a fully functional games database, games market place and social media platform for gamers to network.
The Origin app is available for gamers to download and install on their Mac OS or Windows operating systems.
Origin also comes with Origin Client which allows games to communicate and chat while playing. Players can join groups and chatrooms from the Original Client while still playing their games.
How to download Origin
To be able to download and install the Origin, there are some specific requirements that your computer must meet. Below are the requirements. If your system doesn’t meet these requirements, you will be unable to install Origin.
System Requirements
You must be running 64 bits Windows 7, 8,8.1 or, 10.
This is the only requirement EA stated on the download page for the app. However, you must know that each game has its own requirements that must be met before downloading.
To install the Origin app, follow the procedure below.
1. Visit the download page: ea.com/ea-app. You should see a page similar to the one in the image below.
2. Click on the Download button and wait for the file to finish downloading.
3. Click on the Origin.exe installer to install the file.
As soon as the file finishes downloading successfully, you can log into your EA account and start playing or downloading your games.
