About BECE
In Ghana and Nigeria, the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is the primary examination used to qualify students for admission to secondary and vocational schools.
It is written following three years of junior secondary school. It is managed by the Ghana Education Service, which is part of the Ministry of Education.
In Nigeria, it is overseen by the National Examinations Council and administered by the state ministry of education in each state (NECO).
NECO organizes examinations directly for Unity Schools, Armed Forces Secondary Schools, and other Federal Government schools.
Candidates in the third year of a Ghana Education Service-approved junior high school are eligible for the examination.
