In recent news, it has been confirmed that the Ghana Card Number shall Become A Requirement For Business Registration in the country.

The Registrar-General’s Department (RGD) confirms — that from Thursday, April 1 to Tuesday, April 30, 2021, Ghanaians shall provide their National Identification Card (Ghana Card) number and Tax Identification Number (TIN) during business registration for a new company in Ghana.

The Registrar-General’s Department (RGD) office shall generate a temporal Tax Identification Number (TIN) during the transitional period, and thus, the National Identification Authority (NIA) will mount a desk at the Registrar General Department’s office — in issuing of Ghana Card to all Ghanaians who are to register for business purposes only.

The Registrar-General, Mrs. Jemima Oware, in a press released sent to the Ghana News Agency stated that this had become necessary following the President’s 2021 State of the National Address in Parliament in which he indicated that all National Identification Numbers would become TIN and SSNIT numbers.

Mrs. Jemima Oware noted that the directive applied to all registration types, namely companies limited by shares and by guarantee, unlimited liability companies, partnerships, sole proprietorships, subsidiary business names and external companies.

“Clients are to note that business registrations forms would not be processed without the National Identification Card (Ghana Card) Number,” she disclosed.
