In today’s ICT News, it has been confirmed that Ecobank Hands Over A New Computer Lab To Christian Methodist Senior High School.
Ecobank Ghana gives new and fully equipped computer laboratory to the Christian Methodist Senior High School in Accra — to enhance computing in school. The Christian Methodist Senior High School in Accra received these in project involved, chairs, a projector, projector screen, air conditioners, provision of tables, 30 networked computers, and other associated accessories — that estimated at about GHS160,000.
The Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana, Mr. Dan Sackey in speaking at the handing over ceremony, said that; “education is one of the three critical focus areas for Ecobank’s corporate social responsibility programs. Additionally, Ecobank is interested in empowering young people who form a growing segment of the Ghanaian population.”
The Managing Director, Mr. Sackey additional said that; “the COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed the world, requiring almost everyone to be tech-savvy and digitally proficient. The importance of acquiring the right skill set within the digital and technological space cannot be overemphasized, as the use of technology has taken center stage with rapid global adoption’.
According to Mr. Sackey, ICT is currently a key enabler to efficient work delivery, permitting complex analysis, and developing new ways to share, learn and engage. Indeed, Mr. Sackey also pointed out that it is becoming increasingly obvious that ICT will continue to be the basis for economic and social transformation for individuals and communities. Mr. Sackey therefore encouraged all students of Christian Methodist Senior High and faculty to put the computer laboratory to good use and maintain it to ensure sustainable usage.
Mr. Kweku Acqauh, the Headmaster of Christian Methodist School, received the newly inaugurated laboratory on behalf of the school who affirmed that; the school for some years now has been without a modern ICT laboratory.
In addition, he said that, students would now be able to have access to various e-books, virtual articles, as well as different educational apps with the newly installed laboratory — to help promote teaching and learning. This will help enhance the studying and building capacity in ICT for both students and teachers.
Mr. Kweku Acqauh, the Headmaster of Christian Methodist School, showed gratitude to Mr. Sackey and the Management of Ecobank Ghana, promising that the school authorities will ensure regular maintenance to extend the life span to the facility.
Representing the Old Student Association of the school was Air Commodore Jacob Ashrifie, who also thanked Ecobank Ghana for the donation. The Municipal Director of Education for Ga-South, Mr. Henry Ayetse was full of praise for Ecobank Ghana and urged other corporate institutions to emulate their example.
Mr. Henry Ayetse, the Municipal Director of Education for Ga-South, appealed to old students in the country to occasionally visit their alma mater to assess its educational needs in order to provide support to complement the government’s intervention.
